Paralympic golden moments

The United States Wheelchair Rugby team has won Paralympic Gold in Beijing.  They defeated Australia on Tuesday 53-44. Andy Cohn had 10 goals for Team USA.

In the women’s Marathon today, Amanda McGrory captured silver for the United States.  Edith Hunkeler of Switzerland won the gold. Other track and field medal winners include Jeremy Campbell on Tuesday who won a gold medal in the discus.  He moved up from fourth to the top spot on his final throw.  Jessica Galli won two silver medals yesterday; the first in the 200 meter final and the second in the 800 meter.  Amanda McGrory took bronze in the 800 meter. Peter Gottwald, JR and Joshua George won silver medals yesterday in 800 meter events and Elexis Gilllete took silver in the men’s long jump.

On the final day of swimming, Kelly Becherer won a gold medal in the 50 meter freestyle. Meanwhile, Cheryl Angelelli-Kornoelje and Ashley Owens won Paralympic Silver at the pool on Tuesday.  Susan Beth Scott also won a bronze medal for the United States.

And yes, make it Paralympic Gold for the Women’s USA Wheelchair Basketball team as they upended Germany 50-38.
