MLB, College & Professional Football

The first weekend of October brings a full lineup of guests to Sports Spectrum Saturday. The first round of the Major League Baseball playoffs is underway. The Milwaukee Brewers are one of the top stories in the playoffs, slipping into the post season as the National League wild card winner. They’re playing the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round.

We talk about the playoffs with the Brewers bullpen coach, Marcus Hanel. Marcus will share some of the behind the scenes stories he’s seen in the Brewers organization this season.

ESPN television’s college football analyst, Mike Gottfried joins us to talk about college football and the coaching profession. He also talks about some of the challenges faced by veteran coaches such as Florida State’s Bobby Bowden and Penn State’s Joe Paterno.

In the NFL, the Chicago Bears are off to a solid start. Can they be a surprise team this season?  We hear from Bears players Jason McKie and Danieal Manning.

The Browns have faced tremendous adversity and numerous injuries in the first four games of the season. We learn how the team is working with the challenges in a conversation with the General Manager of the Cleveland Browns, Phil Savage. We also take a real world look at the pressure many NFL executives live with—decisions are constantly scrutinized, life is a fishbowl existence. Phil Savage shares insight into an NFL General Managers world.
