The Colorado Rockies continue their push for a playoff spot and quarterback Michael Vick makes his return to the NFL.

College Athletics, Tennis, and Major League Baseball

This Saturday, Sports Spectrum will talk college football, U. S. Open tennis, and Major League Baseball.

We’ll get a feel for running a major college athletic program with the Director of Athletics at Wake Forest University, Ron Wellman. Under Ron’s direction, Wake Forest has built a nationally competitive football program and one of the finest broad-based programs in the nation. The school can claim past national titles in field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and golf. Ron talks about his philosophy of relying on his relationship with Christ in making tough decisions.

The U. S. Open tennis tournament is also getting underway in Flushing Meadows, New York. It is one of the biggest sporting events of the year in the U. S. We talk about real-life issues in tennis with longtime pro David Wheaton.

The San Francisco Giants have surprised a lot of experts by remaining in the National League playoff race. The big reason for the Giants success is pitching.

We’ll hear an encouraged conversation with Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt. Jeremy is playing in his third city in three years. He shares how his faith in Christ drives him to impact lives in the city in which he plays. He has a passion to represent Christ in the city by the Bay.

Don’t miss Sports Spectrum, tune in Saturday.
