Sports Spectrum Week in Review – Audio Blog

Minnesota persuades Brett Favre to step out of retirement . . . again. Former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress pleads guilty, and Cliff Lee is in a zone for the Phillies.

Major League Baseball, College Basketball, NFL Football, and Golf

It is a full hour of sports, real-life issues, and faith on the next Sports Spectrum Saturday. The Milwaukee Brewers are battling for a playoff spot in the National League. We visit with Brewers relief pitcher Braden Looper. Braden understands how to win. He won World Series rings with the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals.

Students are returning to the college campus this weekend and we remember one of the all-time great coaches—basketball Hall of Famer, Kay Yow. The former N. C. State coach is the subject of the book “Leader of the Pack: The Legacy of Legendary Coach Kay Yow”  written by Stephanie Zonars. We talk with Stephanie and a former player for the Wolfpack Claudia Dozier.

It won’t be long before NFL teams begin making their training camp cuts. The teams will be playing second round games this weekend. We talk with Sports Spectrum Chaplain Bill Crowder about the difficulty that teams have in making roster cuts.

We also go back in time with the 1981 PGA Player of the Year, Bill Rogers. Rogers talks about winning the British Open that year and talks about the PGA tour.

Don’t miss an hour of baseball, college basketball, NFL football, and golf, on the next Sports Spectrum.
