Do you ever feel a little down? As athletes, we go through a lot of intense emotions. Our confidence ebbs and flows. How do you handle the down times? Do you feel sorry for yourself? Do you let excuses justify your behavior? Do you let your problems affect the whole team?
When you find yourself in a bad mood, the best way to get out of the funk is to lift other people up. Instead of moping in practice and bringing negative energy around the team, make an extra effort to cheer for your teammates and give them compliments. If you do, you will not only keep from letting your selfish issues affect the team, but you will also feel better. God will honor that, and He will give you an unexplainable joy.
Give and you will receive. Give good energy and you will get good energy. Give negative energy and that is what you will get.
Don’t depend on others to make you happy. You are in control of your moods and how you handle circumstances. Sometimes you may not feel like being in a good mood, but if you fake it, you will start to feel it. And in the meantime, you may just lift someone else up and brighten his day.
Helping others is one of the best remedies for the blues. Don’t give to get, because God knows your heart. But if you give with a pure heart, you will be sure to receive!
