The Word of God

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth.” Joshua 1:8

According to Joyce Meyer in the book Battlefield of the Mind, meditating on the Word of God is one of the most important life principles that we can learn.

Meditating on God’s Word gives us life (Proverbs 4:20–22). When reading the Word of God, we must understand that it’s simply that, a word. But once you begin “to care for,” “attend to,” “practice,” and “study” the Word of God, it begins to minister life to you.

How?

Meditating on the Bible allows the Word to penetrate your soul and plant a seed of life. Not life itself, but a seed of life, within your heart. As you continue to read and meditate on the Word, that word begins to grow. Instruction from God’s Word is one of the things the author is talking about in Mark 4:22 when he mentions “the hidden treasure of life.”

Once you have revelation from God’s holy Word, you then must do. You must act. God says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says” (James 1:22). Meditating on the Word should lead to action—to doing the things God wants you to do.

Daily meditate on the Word of God, and see how it changes your life. You will discover the secrets to having the abundant life

(John 10:10).
